In a significant recognition of journalistic courage and excellence, five Afghan journalists have been jointly awarded the 2025 “Journalist of the Year” title by the Afghanistan Journalists Center (AFJC). This accolade acknowledges their unwavering commitment to press freedom and their impactful reporting under challenging circumstances.

The awards ceremony, held in Brussels, Belgium, was organized by the AFJC in collaboration with international partners. The event aimed to highlight the resilience and dedication of Afghan journalists who continue to report with integrity despite facing significant risks.
AFJC Director Ahmad Quraishi emphasized the importance of supporting Afghan media professionals, stating that their work is crucial for ensuring transparency and accountability. He called on the international community to provide necessary resources and protection to journalists operating in Afghanistan.
