On March 18, 2026, Mexican journalist Juan David Gámez was shot dead in Nuevo León, Mexico. He was killed while he was riding his motorcycle near his home. He reported on crime and corruption and had received threats before his murder. Authorities are investigating the killing.
This Month
American journalist and filmmaker Brent Renaud was killed on March 13, 2022, while reporting in Irpin, Ukraine, during Russia’s invasion. He was documenting civilians fleeing the conflict when his vehicle came under fire. After his death, a documentary film about his life and work was released, honoring his commitment to storytelling and conflict reporting. The film has been nominated for an Oscar.
