A delegation of foreign journalists was escorted through Tehran by the IRGC to showcase sites struck in the recent Israeli airstrike campaign, part of Tehran’s effort to shape a narrative of damage, defiance, and resilience.
The first stop on this media tour was the IRGC Aerospace Exhibition, featuring missile systems, drones, and satellite technology. Journalists were shown these assets to underscore Iran’s military capabilities and frame the Israeli strikes as an attack on sovereign defence infrastructure.
The delegation then visited several bombed sites across the city, including a civilian high-rise and the adjacent Labbafinezhad Hospital, impacted by the explosive periphery of strikes that Iran describes as targeting residential and civilian health facilities. State media emphasised the journalist visits as a rebuttal to Western and Israeli media accounts that claimed only military installations were hit. Instead, Iran insisted that dozens of civilian buildings had been affected, shifting global perception by offering firsthand visual evidence.
Iran’s leadership, including spokespeople from its armed forces, presented the site visits as efforts toward “global exposure of Zionist crimes” and “documenting Israel’s terrorist wounds,” framing it as an international mission to vindicate official statements on civilian harm.
Across state-linked platforms, including Press TV and Kayhan, coverage emphasised the contrast between the destruction inflicted and the narrative of Iranian fortitude, underscoring the government’s official framing that “resistance” remains stronger than aggression. While Western outlets portrayed the conflict as a confrontation over military and nuclear facilities, Iran portrayed the destruction in Tehran’s urban heart as evidence of disproportionate, indiscriminate aggression.
The official message is clear. Tehran wants the world to see this struggle not merely as a military clash but as a battle between colonial-style aggression and the right to self-defence, civilian protection, and national sovereignty.
