Renowned Baloch journalist Niaz Baloch has reported receiving serious threats from individuals linked to Pakistani intelligence agencies. These threats include warnings of enforced disappearance, a tactic reportedly used to silence dissent in Balochistan. In a public statement, Baloch condemned the escalating dangers faced by professionals in the region, asserting that journalists, educators, healthcare workers, legal professionals, writers, artists, students, and activists are being targeted simply for speaking out against systemic injustice.
Baloch highlighted the growing risks faced by professionals in Balochistan, stating that no segment of society is safe. He emphasized that anyone who dares to speak out against oppression and injustice is either forcibly disappeared or killed by so-called ‘unknown persons,’ referring to the ‘death squads’ that operate with impunity and spread terror in the region.
The Balochistan Post reports that Baloch fears enforced disappearance—a tactic alleged to suppress dissent in the region. In a bold statement, Baloch condemned increasing threats to professionals in Balochistan. He highlighted targeted attacks on journalists, educators, and activists opposing systemic injustice, allegedly by ‘death squads’ acting with impunity.
