On April 20, 2025, the Palestinian National Council, the highest decision-making body of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), issued a statement calling for the protection of journalists amid ongoing Israeli attacks on reporters in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The council held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for its crimes against journalists, emphasizing the need for international accountability and support for media professionals working in these regions.
This appeal coincided with Arab Media Day, highlighting the critical role of journalists in conflict zones and the increasing dangers they face.
