November 16, 2025November 16, 2025 – Kuwait –
The 4th GCC Women Journalists Forum opened on Sunday under the patronage of Abdulrahman Al‑Mutairi, Kuwait’s Information and Culture Minister, emphasizing a unified media message and the vital role of women in Gulf journalism.
Held under the theme “The Gulf Narrative of Women in Media,” the forum is being led by the Gulf Journalists Union in cooperation with the Kuwait Journalists Association and brings together female media professionals from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Minister Al-Mutairi remarked that the event reflects Kuwait’s ongoing cultural and media momentum, citing its designation as the 2025 Arab Capital of Culture and Media. He highlighted that Gulf women are increasingly visible and influential in all segments of media—from traditional print to digital platforms and from editorial roles to top leadership—demonstrating capability, innovation, and dedication.
The forum’s agenda includes sessions on timely topics such as “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Gulf Journalism,” along with a closed strategic dialogue involving Kuwait’s Information Ministry. In addition, a special session dedicated to women leaders is scheduled to address the unique opportunities and challenges of female media professionals in the region.
Isa Al‑Shaiji, President of the Gulf Journalists Union and Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association, praised Kuwait’s hosting of the forum as evidence of the country’s standing as a beacon of journalism and Arab culture. He also called for enhanced Gulf-wide cooperation to meet the “rapid global developments” reshaping media today.
The forum organizers announced that the 5th edition will again be held in Kuwait in 2026 under the minister’s sponsorship, signalling a longer-term commitment to empowering women journalists across the Gulf and strengthening regional media networks
