Hamas has voiced its full support for international demands to allow foreign journalists access to the besieged Gaza Strip, emphasizing the urgent need to expose the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding under Israeli blockade. Senior Hamas official Izzat al-Rishq issued a statement declaring that preventing foreign media from entering Gaza was an attempt to hide the ongoing massacres and war crimes committed against Palestinian civilians. He called on the international community and press freedom organizations to pressure Israel into lifting restrictions that have left Gaza sealed off from external media coverage.
According to al-Rishq, allowing global media into Gaza is crucial for showing the world the real impact of the Israeli assault, especially on civilians. He stressed that the occupation’s refusal to grant entry to foreign correspondents was a deliberate strategy to block the truth. “Let the world see what the occupation is doing. Let the world see the massacres. Let the world see the mass destruction,” he said.
The statement comes as journalists inside Gaza face extraordinary danger, with dozens killed and many more operating in extreme conditions without safety, electricity, or food. International news organizations have repeatedly requested entry, but Israel has continued to deny access, citing security concerns.
Hamas’s call follows broader international criticism of Israel’s press restrictions, which have drawn condemnation from media freedom groups and human rights organizations. The push for access aligns with the urgent global demand for transparency amid rising civilian casualties and deepening humanitarian collapse in Gaza.
Al-Rishq concluded by affirming the right of the international press to report freely from Gaza and demanded that the Israeli government be held accountable for both its actions on the ground and its ongoing suppression of journalistic access.
