Danish Siddiqui Journalism Award 2026 Invites Entries
January 13, 2026The Young Journalists Forum 2025 was launched this week in Minsk, bringing together early-career reporters, editors, media students, and digital content creators from across Belarus and neighbouring countries for an intensive programme designed to build professional capacity and encourage innovative storytelling in the modern media landscape.
Hosted by the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), the forum opened on December 20, 2025, at the Minsk Media Centre, with participants representing a diverse array of media outlets, including print, broadcast, and digital platforms. The event aims to provide emerging media professionals with practical skills, mentorship, and networking opportunities to enhance the quality of reporting and ethical journalism.
Over the course of several days, attendees will engage in a series of workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions covering key topics such as multimedia reporting, investigative techniques, fact-checking and verification strategies, audience engagement, and the use of social media in news distribution. Sessions are led by experienced journalists, editors, and media trainers from Belarus and abroad, offering insight into both local and international best practices.
A central focus of the forum is adapting journalism to the rapidly evolving digital environment. Speakers and facilitators will explore how young reporters can effectively use digital tools, data analysis, and visual storytelling to deepen public understanding of complex issues. Emphasis is also placed on maintaining ethical standards and professional integrity in the face of challenges such as misinformation and political pressures.
The forum includes discussion panels on the role of youth in shaping the future of media, with participants encouraged to share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Mentorship sessions allow attendees to receive personalised feedback on their work, with opportunities for constructive dialogue with seasoned professionals.
At the opening ceremony, organisers highlighted the importance of nurturing the next generation of journalists in strengthening independent and resilient media ecosystems. They underscored the need for safe spaces where young media professionals can develop their craft, exchange ideas, and cultivate collaborative networks that extend beyond Belarus.
The Young Journalists Forum aims to culminate in a showcase of participant-led projects, where emerging journalists will have the opportunity to present their work, receive recognition from peers and instructors, and discuss future professional pathways. The event reinforces ongoing efforts to support media innovation and empower the voices of young storytellers in the region.
