The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) in Karachi hosted an Iftar and dinner reception to honour members of the media community, bringing together journalists from across print, electronic, and digital platforms during the holy month of Ramadan. The gathering took place at the Jaun Elia Lawn of the Arts Council and was attended by a large number of media professionals and public figures.
The event was hosted by ACP President Muhammad Ahmed Shah along with members of the council’s governing body. In welcoming the guests, Shah expressed appreciation for the work of journalists and thanked them for their continued engagement with the Arts Council’s cultural and artistic initiatives.
During his remarks, Shah emphasized that maintaining strong ties with the journalistic community has long been a tradition of the Arts Council. He noted that journalists have consistently supported the institution by highlighting its programs, events, and efforts to promote art and culture in Pakistan. According to him, media coverage has played an important role in helping the council reach broader audiences and encourage cultural dialogue.
The gathering was attended by several prominent personalities from the fields of media, politics, and civil society. Among those present were political leader Nisar Khuhro, Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jamili, and Arts Council Secretary Ejaz Farooqui. A number of well-known journalists and commentators also participated in the event, including Huma Mir, Ghazi Salahuddin, Mazhar Abbas, Syed Karam Ali Shah, and Muhammad Farooq, along with representatives from various national and international news organizations.
Organizers said the evening served as an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of journalists while also strengthening cooperation between cultural institutions and the media sector. Such gatherings during Ramadan are commonly used to foster dialogue and express appreciation for the work of professionals who contribute to public life and information sharing.
Participants at the event highlighted the important role journalists play in shaping public understanding of social, cultural, and political developments. They also noted that collaboration between media institutions and cultural organizations can help promote artistic expression and encourage informed public discussion.
