While its editorial independence has been questioned, given Qatar’s state funding, Al Jazeera maintains it operates under a public-interest charter that ensures autonomy. Its bold, inclusive style, however, has drawn criticism in some circles, especially regarding coverage of contentious issues like Syria and Gaza.
