About TJC

WHO WE ARE

We are an alliance of journalist organizations, human rights associations, legal organizations, and broadcast networks. TJC Project is an Al Jazeera initiative - our extended collective members include journalists, media, concerned institutions and individuals, and legal experts.

WHAT WE DO

The TJC Project is a collective project aimed at raising awareness and accountability about the targeting of journalists globally.

The aim of the TJC Project is to:

1. Amplify awareness

2. Humanize the issue

3. Accelerate accountability

THE ISSUE

The sharp rise in journalist killings during the genocide in Gaza underscores a severe issue of impunity. This war is the deadliest for journalists in over 30 years, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).

Despite efforts by the UN, UNESCO, CPJ, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), IPI, Free Press Unlimited (FPU), and other organisations, most journalist assassinations remain unpunished. This lack of accountability emboldens attackers and creates a perilous environment for journalists globally, affecting regions from Mexico and South America to Africa, India, and Russia.
