Authorities in Bulgaria have announced the accreditation process for journalists covering the upcoming Hemus 2026 International Defence Equipment and Services Exhibition, outlining access procedures, media registration requirements, and the scope of coverage for one of the region’s largest defence industry events.
According to the official press notification, media representatives must complete formal accreditation through the Ministry of Defence press centre in order to access the exhibition and related events in Plovdiv, where Hemus 2026 will take place from 3 to 6 June 2026. The accreditation process is intended to regulate media entry to both the main exhibition halls and associated demonstrations and forums.
Hemus 2026 is expected to host more than 150 domestic and international companies, alongside defence institutions, military representatives, and policymakers. The exhibition will feature sectors covering land, air, naval, and joint military capabilities, as well as security, anti-terrorism, cybersecurity, and technological innovation in defence systems.
Organisers state that the event will also include an industrial forum, live demonstrations, and an international scientific conference focused on defence research and innovation. Journalists accredited for the event will be granted access to press briefings, exhibitions, and selected operational demonstrations, subject to security protocols established by the organisers and the Ministry of Defence.
The accreditation notice also highlights logistical arrangements for media coverage, including deadlines for application submission and requirements for identity verification and editorial confirmation from media organisations. These procedures are designed to ensure that only verified media professionals are granted access to sensitive defence-related environments during the exhibition.
More broadly, Hemus 2026 is positioned as a major international platform for defence dialogue, bringing together government institutions, armed forces, industry leaders, and academic experts. It serves as a forum for showcasing military technologies and discussing security challenges, particularly in areas such as unmanned systems, cybersecurity, and crisis response capabilities.
Overall, the accreditation announcement reflects the organisational and security frameworks required for media coverage of large-scale defence exhibitions, where controlled access is balanced with the need for journalistic reporting on developments in military technology and international security cooperation.
