July 16, 2025Jodi Huisentruit, a 27-year-old news anchor for KIMT (Iowa Minnesota Television) in Mason City, Iowa, vanished on June 27, 1995, while en route to work. Initially considered a missing person case, authorities soon suspected foul play after discovering her items scattered near her car and signs of a struggle at the scene. Despite extensive investigations, numerous leads, and public appeals, Huisentruit was never found, and no arrests were made. In 2001, she was declared legally dead at age 32.
A new three-part docuseries, Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit, premiered on Hulu on July 15, 2025. Produced by ABC News Studios, the series delves deeply into the unsolved case, featuring over 20 new interviews with family, friends, detectives, and witnesses, along with previously unseen material, forensic details, and new investigative leads. Notably, a 2022 breakthrough occurred when a viewer of ABC’s 20/20 episode on the case came forward with crucial information. Authorities also revealed they had monitored a person of interest for years. The series underscores the enduring public interest and demand for justice, as calls intensify for the person responsible to come forward and provide answers.
As of 2025, authorities continue to actively investigate the case, hoping for justice and closure for Huisentruit’s grieving family and the wider community still haunted by her disappearance.
